rot is a performance art piece centered on the concept of “bedrotting,” which Google defines as “the practice of spending an extended period of time in bed, often an entire day, not necessarily for sleep, but for passive activities or a lack of activity.” In this work, Juarez examines the behavioral patterns associated with her diagnosed depression and her coming of age in the internet era, where she has found herself engaging in bedrotting frequently.

Through the use of absurdism, Juarez analyzes and reflects on her own actions, confronting the stagnation she has allowed to take root in parts of her life. The piece serves as both acknowledgment and critique, created in the hope of redirecting her habits and reshaping her lived experience.
