Temporary Tattoos

2024
This piece consists of three temporary tattoos that read, “my criticism extends to myself, I’m sorry,” “I love you, even when it’s hard,” and “God made me perfect, just like you.” Though childlike in appearance and impermanent in form, Juarez uses these phrases to confront lines of dialogue that are often difficult to express.
Through this work, she seeks to normalize vulnerable conversations between individuals and their counterparts. By placing these tender yet challenging statements on the body, Juarez emphasizes both the fragility and the necessity of speaking such words aloud.
